Basswood/Linden Tree

Tilia americana. A native tree averaging 60-80 feet tall.  The flowers are used in herb teas, especially in Quebec. A good shade tree for the yard. This tree is well known for attracting honey bees who turn the nectar into some of the tastiest honey. Did you know this tree also attracts fireflies, and is a host to the caterpillar of Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly?

Prefers fertile, moist, well drained soil.
