Sambucus canadensis, native to North America. Fruit is good for syrups and tonics and wines, however its best to not eat the fruit raw. Can use two natives for pollination or one native and any other elderberry. Up to 12'. Can grow in full sun or shade. 

A wide variety of birds and small mammals also love these fruit. Butterflies and other insects are attracted to the blooms, as are hummingbirds. Host plant to our largest moth, the cecropia.
