Acer saccharum. Perhaps the most quintessential tree in Vermont. Who doesn't love to relax under the shade of a giant Sugar Maple? Not to mention the joy of collecting buckets of sap to make maple syrup.
Long-lived Sugar Maples grow to about 60-70 ft at maturity, sometimes higher. Leaves can be bright yellow, orange, or red in the fall. Wonderful for lumber, firewood, and wildlife habitiat.
