Swamp White Oak

Quercus bicolor. A rapid growing and long-lived tree found in lowlands, stream edges and swamps that average around 60 feet tall.  The leaves are dark green on top and silvery on the bottom. Native to north-central and north-eastern parts of the US, including around Lake Champlain in Vermont. The acorns are sweet, like other upland white oaks. The acorns are loved by ducks, squirrels, rodents and more.
