A hardy native viburnum shrub (honeysuckle family, not a true cranberry) with red fruit in the fall that strongly resemble true cranberries in both looks and taste. The fruit can be made into a sauce by itself, or mixed with apples for jam.
Reaches up to 15 feet tall, and can act as a good privacy screen when planted in a row. Attracts birds that like to eat the berries, especially since the berries have the ability to hang on to the branches into the winter. Berries also eaten by many mammals including moose, deer, rabbits, foxes and more.
They are self fertile, so you do not need to have a second plant in order to get fruit (but it doesn't hurt). It takes about 5 years for the plant to bare fruit.
