Cross between butternut (Juglans cinerea) and heartnut (Juglans ailantifolia). Butternuts, native to North America, have been crossed with heartnuts to create a more disease resistant tree. (The name "buartnut" comes from the first two letters of butter and the last three letters of heart) Extremely fast growing and heavy producer of nuts. Need two for pollination. Plant 20-30 feet apart.
